An Ode to Diane
Diane Keaton dared to push the envelope on how we get dressed. With her recent passing, we remember a woman who made androgyny feel natural, playful, and powerful— turning menswear staples into a language of self.
At KALEIDOS, we’ve long loved the oversized “dad” blazer. Diane showed us how to wear one without apology — how to balance the tailored and the soft, the masculine and the feminine, until it simply became you. She gave us permission to try a tie over a tee, belt a white suit, and top it all with a hat just because it felt right.
What Diane taught us
- Own a uniform. A blazer, a vest, wide-leg trousers, and a hat can carry you for decades — change the textures and it’s always new.
- Play with scale. Strong shoulders + relaxed trousers = effortless. Add a tiny cinch at the waist if you want structure.
- Keep it neutral, make it personal. Black, white, oatmeal — then one signature detail (a polka-dot scarf, silver hoops, a leather belt).
- Let comfort lead. Oxfords, loafers, soft knits — Diane’s polish never meant pain.
- Style is a point of view. Clothes can be both/and — masculine and feminine, tailored and undone.
Channeling Diane, the KALEIDOS way
-
Oversized ’90s menswear blazer
Push the sleeves up for a little texture and lived-in feel -
High-rise wide-leg trousers or jeans
This elongates your legs and accentuates your waist, while the wide-leg adds a loose, masculine balance
-
Crisp cotton button down + fine turtleneck (for cooler seasons )
Belt at the waist to add feminine form, unbutton the collar for ease -
Grounding loafers/oxfords + a playful sock
Keep the shoe classic and let color peek out at the ankle -
Signature topper
A beanie, ball cap, or scarf — choose one piece that makes it yours
Pro tip: Keep the palette neutral and let texture do the talking — wool, cashmere, poplin, leather. Then add one personal flourish — a belt, silver hoops, glasses, or a fun scarf.
